what are your views on the documentary "SuperSize Me"

  1. The documentary “Super Size Me” is very informative. It spreads a lot of awareness about how McDonald’s food menu isn’t only unhealthy to consume but can also lead to serious health issues when consumed regularly. I can’t think of a better way to show the negative effects that continuously eating McDonalds has on the human body other than through actually doing it. Also, I liked how the overall period was monitored by multiple doctors. This gave the documentary more legitimacy. Another thing that is interesting is that McDonalds is now showing the calories to all of their menu items. I think this documentary, among other things, could have to do with it. All in all, this documentary did a good job of spreading awareness about the unhealthiness of fast food. Morgan took one for the team putting his body through such a harsh experiment for the greater good and to spread awareness.

  2. I love McDonald’s so the fact that this movie solely focused on McDonald’s made me enjoy this movie from the start. Morgan Spurlock is truly a brave individual for devoting a month of his life to prove a purpose. I could never eat McDonald’s three times a day every day for a month even thinking of that begins to make me sick. I loved the fact that Spurlock consulted with many doctors before embarking on a new chapter of his life. In addition I think this film was very biased for example, they would interview and show the question being asked but then not show the persons answer, when the person clearly had an answer. Also they would play dramatic music at parts to make situations some intense and like the most important thing in the entire world. I think it was great that this movie wasn’t just about supersized meals at McDonald’s, for example it talked about foods being served in elementary to middle schools. The fact that Spurlock added more examples about the eating habits of Americans made it more appealing to the average person and made it easier for people to connect. I really think that this films motives were successful I say this because McDonald’s no longer offers super-sized meals. In addition I've seen the calories next to most items right on the menu at McDonald’s, which is hopefully helping Americans to make smarter choices about what they put into their bodies.

  3. I agree that the documentary revealed a lot of interesting points to consider. Although it is unrealistic to only eat McDonald's, Spurlock displayed a very extreme example of the American eating habits. After seeing the documentary, I think that now when I watch McDonald's commercials I pick them apart more. When they advertise new salads and "healthy choices" I think back to Supersize Me discussing the fact that only 3 or 4 items on the menu are sugar free, and the salad's aren't included on that list.
Sometimes watching the documentary is hard. Like when Spurlock met with the man who eats an average of 4 Big Mac's each day. I've never even had a big mac, but thinking of eating more than one ever seems unreal to me. And what surprised me most was that he wasn't even that overweight. Although, who knows what his insides look like...

  4. i think the video made some points but all together it was very biased. its whole purpose was to show that macdanolds is nothing more than a money hungry company out to ruin peoples health. i think the main reason he got sick so soon was becuase of the sudden change in diet. his body went into a "sugar shock". not saying his points were wrong, mcdonalds is definatley not a good health choice, and i learnt some things in the video that i will remember the next time i stop ad get a Mcgriddle.
