  1. I don't think we can put full blame on any industry alone. We definitely play a huge role in the obesity problem. I think that we should put most of the blame on ourselves because we really just don’t educate ourselves. We either pretend we don’t want to hear what health experts are telling us or we just don’t pay attention and the result is very negative. We can’t pretend that McDonalds is the only issue. There are way more fast food restaurants throughout the world than there are that offer healthy menus. And the problem is, American’s have such fast paced lives, it is very difficult to cook three healthy meals every day, and it is easier for us to just stop at a drive-thru as we run errands. If we would just slow down and realize what is actually important in life, we would maybe take the time to ensure that it will last longer.

  2. McDonalds is the biggest fast food resturaunt in the world. Although there food may be delicious and addictive it is extremely bad for you and filled with oil and fat. McDonalds is one of the many fast food resturaunts that is bad for you so I do not blame McDonalds for the obesity in America.
As a country we have become extremely lazy. Not only has food distributors been filling foods with bad preserves and fat but America has stopped being active. As individuals we have the freedom to chose what we put in our bodies. Most people know how unhealthy McDonalds is, but they still chose to eat it anyway. I don't believe that McDonalds or any other fast food restaurant is responsible for Americas obesity, we are responsible for our own actions.

  3. McDonald’s and other fast food chains may have had an impact on the rise of obesity in America but they can’t be 100% to blame. American citizens have a choice when it comes to what food they’re putting in their bodies. McDonald’s advertisements, popularity, acceptance and convenience can be influential for convincing the average American to eat there, nonetheless the choice is ours. Clearly fast food is unhealthy; however, most Americans don’t realize how unhealthy the intake is and how it affects our health. This is why it’s important to spread awareness about how a regular regimen at McDonald's can do much more than make you gain weight. The Documentary Super Size Me does a great job of spreading awareness about the affects that a McDonald's diet can have on an individual’s body. If Americans are more aware of how unhealthy certain foods are many of them will choose not to eat those foods. On the other hand there are certain Americans who will eat unhealthy foods regardless of the facts, and you can’t blame McDonald's for that. McDonald’s is one of the many suppliers of unhealthy food while we Americans are the consumers and we’re to blame if our choices lead us to obesity.

  4. I think that McDonald’s has played a huge role in the rapid rise of obesity in America. It hasn’t been McDonald’s alone though it’s been peoples individual choices. People are given choices everyday of their lives. These choices can begin with , do you want to buy a shirt in pink or in green? To do you want a small fry or a large fry while you’re driving through the drive-thru at Mickey D’s. The knitty gritty of this topic is people are responsible for their actions and in the long run pay for their choices. Let’s say that when you’re asked on the size of French fry that you want to order and you choose the large that is a personnel choice. This person could’ve chosen a small fry and a side of apples or a side salad. Or to avoid this situation all together you could’ve driven an extra 2 or 3 minutes to Subway where you can choose from a variety sandwiches with real foods freshly made. The reason that McDonald’s is partly to blame for the rise in obesity is due to their affordable prices an individual could buy 5 cheeseburgers at the golden arch for $5.30 or a gourmet salad at Panera for probably double the price and less food. I think part of the problem is due to economic problems that a majority of Americans struggle with everyday. Yes people want to stay in shape but it costs money to buy a gym membership, to buy organic foods, and its much easier to take a short drive to the closest fast food establishment. A solution to decrease obesity in America is to lower the amount of unhealthy fast food places and replace them with cheaper healthier options but in reality this would never happen.
