Is anyone playing Powderpuff this fall (not Edward, of course)? What are your thoughts on Powderpuff in general?

  1. Yes, I'm playing powderpuff this year for the first time ever in hopes of a victory, for the class of 2013. In fact I just turned in my physical sheet to Lynn Wilson in the athletic office and in return received the ever popular piece of turquoise paper that gives the stamp of approval that I am indeed healthy and able to participate. I was unable to participate in last year’s season since I already had prior commitments to girl’s junior varsity golf team. This year though I decided to take a break from golf and try something new; powderpuff. I think powderpuff is a wonderful extracurricular activity that Groves offers to students. Not only is it a fun time for the players the proceeds from the game go directly to charity. Giving back is one of the best things that a person can do and I believe that this year’s game will earn a lot of money to donate to this year’s charity Be the Match, which helps to find donors for bone marrow transplants.

  2. I agree that it is for a great cause and fun to do but sometimes I wonder why there are no other charity teams for students to participate in. Or why none of the boy's football proceeds go to charity. Do you think people come to the games to actually see how well girls can step up and play football or do you think they are hoping to watch us make fools of ourselves? Or is it for the male cheerleaders? What do you think the effects of reversing the "standard" gender rules for some sports?

  3. Unfortunately I can not play powderpuff this year. I'm extremely sad because i had so much fun last year. I was going to attempt to be a manager so i could still be a part of the team, but I am extremely busy with volleyball, work and band rehersals.
I also agree with lauren, that poweder puff its such a nice charity event and way to still have fun.
Although I'm not playing powder puff this year, I am extremely amped about the big game. It needs to be priority to beat the Juniors. I remember how serious the seniors looked when they came out for their warm up, and thinking how scared I was to play them. This year we wont be scared because we have a year of experience. Class of 2013 has to win. Good luck lauren!
