What are your views on the streotypes towards the two different genders?

  1. Stereotypes have been around forever and will never go out of style. Basically there something that everyone makes whether it’s purposely or by instinct they do take place. One stereotype that lots of people make is about the issue of gender. Of course females and males are born with different reproductive organs, but are there really things that people of these gender groups should or shouldn’t do? Females from a young age are expected to like the color pink, or purple enjoy playing dress up, doing makeup, and always having to play with a baby doll or Barbie’s. On the other hand males are projected to like playing sports such as football or baseball, play video games for hours on end and to play with toy trains and cars. From a young age humans are introduced to the so called normal of their gender groups and overtime these basic concepts develop even more. These stereotypes can even determine a person’s occupation, from far back in history woman’s roles in society are to be a nurse, teacher, or a stay at home mom. While men are viewed more to be a police officer, fire fighter, lawyer , or an engineer. In addition these stereotypes that are put into people’s heads are influenced even more by the media . Ads are aired everyday on TV whether it’s for a popular new perfume or cologne or for a store such as Victoria’s Secret. Basically when people view these ads its saying buy me if you want to fit under the classification or a perfect male or female. I think that the social media, and television feed into these stereotypes way too much and in some ways need to be put to rest . People need to be the person they want to be without having to worrying about the pressures of societies views of the perfect male, or female.

  2. I think what is the most interesting about gender stereotypes is where they have originated from. I think that it is quite possible that they have evolved over a long period of time based on natural ability. We can all admit that males are generally stronger physically, and I think that through time, that has twisted from science into a day-to-day definition of what men SHOULD be rather than what they naturally MAY be. In my opinion that is where the stereotypes came from, science that has become the norm for everyone. However, people don't often think about the fact that science isn't always true, there are always exceptions but we only like to appreciate the accepted facts.

  3. No matter how much we evolve as a society, the stereotypes between genders will continue to be in today’s everyday life." Girls are weak and boys are strong.”, probably the most common stereotype of females, not thinking of all of the thousands of extremely muscular and athletic women around the world.
I feel that a lot of the time, sterotypes are taken too far in determining what type of person you are. Stereotype, a simplified and standardized conception or image invested with special meaning and held in common by members of a group.
People are pressured to certain things that they may not be "into" to uphold a stereotype of their gender or race ect. Boys and girls are almost forced to act a certain way to please the rest of society, and it’s truly sad that some people are afraid to be who they really are because they may be teased or rejected by the world.

  4. i believe stereotypes can be dangerous to peoples self confidence when it comes to being the perfect boy or girl, but i also believe some stereotypes are natural and in fact needed to educate children about how life is. there is no way of getting around the fact that men and women are different, so why not promote what it means to be a man or a women? (this has nothing to do with job stereotypes) men are seen as a symbol of strength, rough, protector, and women are seen as symbols of soft, gentle, beauty. these stereotypes are good in teaching children how to put that extra testosterone or estrogen to work. there is a reason we have different hormones. im not saying women are less strong and men less gentle. but these traits are what is natraully given to us and we should embrace them. But society is pushing them so far through the media that some people would put themselves in harms way to become a better them, by what society says is better. being a man or being a women is the best way to be a man or a women. you dont need to act "more" of a man to BE a man.

as far as the movie tough guise, i think it was verrrry biased, especially with the movie clips of men being violent brutes.
plenty of women in action packed movies and are even killing the "strong" men.
